The Mediterranean Approach
On the occasion of the exhibition “The Mediterranean Approach”, at the Zenobio Palace in Venice, David Casini’s project L’illogica abitudine stems from unauthorized building in the Mediterranean interpreted as the disturbing contemporary notion of architecture quite often left incomplete. Like precious objects preserved in bell jars, the five works constitute a particular wunderkammer, recalling 19th century museum collections. The works are structured as microsystems where small scale modes of real eco-aberrations are grafted to coral skeletons, almost as if they were different species in a rare symbiosis. The result is a unique surreal landscape, in many respects fascinating for its troubling mutation.
